Post Date:04/13/2026 11:05 AMIn a continued effort to support agencies in becoming ADA Title II Ready, OITS now offers Equidox to help state agencies meet their PDF specific accessibility goals
Portable Document Format (PDF) was created by Adobe and later became an open standard, maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (Adobe PDF, 2026). Its purpose is to give users the power to create and share images and text documents in a format that is compatible with various types of systems and software. Unfortunately, there are aspects of PDFs that are not accessibility friendly without a lot of extra work. There are several and sometimes complex ways to make PDFs accessible. OITS wants to help agencies bypass such complexities by offering a software that’s purpose is to make them simple.
Equidox is a software designed to enable PDFs to be remediated for accessibility quickly and easily. Federal law and state policy require that state of Kansas web content is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This includes content that is provided online in PDFs.
Only State of Kansas personnel can access this resource. To help agencies get acclimated to this new tool, trainings and more are offered through Equidox. Learn more about those resources and how you can access them on our new Equidox mini site. Return to full list >>
